Born Sean Rolle on the Island of Grand Bahama, Jah Nyne grew up in the community of Hawksbill. Jah Nyne grew up around music, first being influenced by his father, who was the lead guitarist and vocalist in a band called the Intruders, which played Blues and Soul music at night clubs and parties throughout the island. As a child Jah Nyne would sometimes sing songs while his father played the guitar.

In the late 70’s to early 80’s Reggae Music had taken the Bahamas by storm in the lights of Bob Marley and The Wailers and Reggae became a major influence among the youths. As a teenager, Jah Nyne and his friends would string up a D.J. set and one by one they would take turns singing and D.J.’ing on the weekends. At times they would also record their sessions with a camcorder as they performed.

Through the passage of time, Jah Nyne nurtured his talent and developed his art as he prepared to introduce himself as an artist to be reckoned with universally, gracing stages across the globe and satisfying listeners with his spiritually cultivated message, melodic singjay style and energetic stage presence that gives him status among the biggest names in the reggae arena. Jah Nyne has released songs such as “In the Name of Jah,” which has given him international recognition and captured the attention of listeners with its rootical Rasta vibration, as he chants rebuking devils “In the Name of Jah.” “Hungry Pickney” is another renowned single that has blazed a trail across Europe with its possession of vitality, reminding humanity not to neglect the spiritual needs of the youths. ”Rise” is truly a chant with a powerful lyrical content coupled with and energetic deliverance that encourages the youths to see their true potentials and rightful place on earth.

Jah Nyne says, “My greatest inspiration comes from His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, who inspires me to sing music of redemption for humanity, and to lead an exemplary life.” His lyrics are also inspired by world events, everyday living, as well as, personal experiences.

The Alcapones are driven by their love for authentic 60′ies Jamaican ska and rocksteady. They stay true to the style with a farmer on stand bass, a rude boy from long island on the kit and a sick horn section with deep Colorado ska roots. Lately the ponies have picked up an irie duo from the rich hills of Ned, that contributes with guitar, vocals and accordion.

Formed out of the University of Colorado dorms a reggae mastermind, Matt Niederhauser, enlightened many around him with the roots culture encompassed within his home town Honolulu, HI. Since, a tidal wave of original roots music has hit Boulder, CO founding a reggae revelation! Excelling from an acoustic duo with bassist Chris Ball, Policulture was launch into the Boulder music scene based out of The Goose Bar. Beginning an astonishingly successful weekly live musical performance, Reggae Wednesdays, Policulture has established a solid foundation of reggae culture. Now, with performances at venues such as Cervantes’ Other Side, Club 156, K’s China, Tropics Café (Honolulu, HI), and The Goose Bar and opening for international reggae acts such as Tribal Seeds, Fortunate Youth, Twiddle, J Boog, and Through the Roots, Policulture is seeking new endeavors surrounding the national music scene!

Music is a universal language that unites all and that is our purpose. Unite All and Live Easy!

The Healing Force Band is a reggae band that I started in 2005 as a re-entry into reggae. I had taken a couple of years off from reggae following the end of the long-running Healers Band to pursue other musical interests, but couldn’t stay away too long. Reggae is such a part of who I am both musically and spiritually. Luckily, I was able to team up with long-time friend and drummer extraordinaire Michael Joseph and bassist Dean Marold. Soon, I had the great pleasure of meeting and beginning to play with keyboardist Djordje Vasovic and before you knew it we were performing as the Healing Force. Eventually Dean moved to Nashville so the very talented Chris Harris took over on bass. The name came from the idea that we are made up of energy and are connected to a world of energy. Energy can be used to heal your spirit, mind, or body and one method is through music.

The fact is that when you book the Healing Force Band, you are booking great musicians who have a great deal of experience playing everything including clubs, weddings, private parties, festivals, etc. This band is also experienced at playing other styles such as: blues, r&b, funk, jazz, calypso, and more.

Judge Roughneck. Having a loyal nationwide fan base, and repeatedly voted Denver’s best ska act, Judge Roughneck has gained both commercial success and critical acclaim. Due to the band’s widespread appeal, they have been asked to perform once again at this year’s Reggae on the Rocks Festival at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.

JR routinely draws hundreds of fans to its shows across Colorado. The band has also been played on numerous Denver area commercial radio stations including KBCO, KTCL, KBPI and Alice 106.

Judge Roughneck’s unique brand of pop-reggae pays tribute to both the early ’80’s British 2-Tone movement and the original jazzlaced ska of Jamaica, while infusing a generous dose of soul and R&B. The result is a unique, high-energy dance sound that entertains a wide audience.

Due to the band’s appealing sound and professionalism, Judge Roughneck has been asked to perform with such international greats as UB40, Burning Spear, General Public, The Skatalites, The Specials, The Wailers, and Fishbone, and has aired on over 200 radio stations nationwide. Judge Roughneck also landed a promotional deal with Corona Beer, which is aired the song “Hot!” on U.S. radio from 1999-2001.

In 2001, Judge Roughneck was one of four bands to reach the finals of the Ernie Ball/Warped Tour Battle of the Bands. Over 4000 band from North America entered the contest, which flew the regional winners to Dallas, TX to compete in the semi-finals, and then to Los Angeles, where the finals were held at the downtown Bonaventure Hotel during the NAMM Convention.

The band features an all-star line-up of Denver musicians including Byron Shaw on lead vocals, bongos and melodica, Brian Handlos on bass, Chris Reidy on guitar, Donald Barthelemy on drums, Jon Hegel on saxophone and Rolf Reitzig on trumpet.

Judge Roughneck’s latest CD, titled, “True” guides the listener on a musical journey through dub-reggae, old-school 60’s ska, 2-Tone-influenced pop-reggae and hip-hop. The CD was produced by Kyle Jones and Chris Reidy and was mastered by Grammy Award Winning engineer, David Glasser at Airshow mastering in Boulder, CO.

Coming from times of war in Zimbabawe, Bongo Love who comes from a line of Chiefs and Kings, focused on the drumming and music of his people to carry on the oral traditions that might have otherwise been lost forever. He carried his musical talent, storytelling, drumming and spirit to the United States and shared these incredible sounds, thought provoking lyrics and drumming with many musicians and fans.

Bongo Love is an authentic African performer who greatly is appreciated by lovers of many musical genres. His music has been crowned as healing, happy and very danceable. Well known musicians and music critiques have applauded Bongo Love’s original compositions. He has released three CD’s to this date and his working on his next.

Byron Shaw Projex – The Band

The Jonez, Judge Roughneck. Recognized by the Rocky Mountain News as Denver’s Top Male Vocalist. Byron Shaw’s resume has garnered more than its fair share of notable line items. But his most impressive undertaking to date may be his solo effort, an eclectic exploration of dub, jazz, funk, hip hop and soul called the Byron Shaw Projex. For this outing, Byron is joined by some of Denver’s finest: Kate Shoup on vocals, Chad Aman on keyboards, Colin Mitchell on bass, Dave Flomberg on trombone and strange sounds and Sherman Arnold on drums. The resulting collective is a dervish of soul-shaking groove; a funk junket through years and genres that drifts past only once in a lapis moon… all aboard!
